Luca Bertalot is the Secretary General of the European Mortgage Federation – European Covered Bond Council (EMF-ECBC), representing the interests of the European mortgage and covered bond markets. The EMF provides data on markets worth over €8.9 trillion, while the ECBC, founded in 2004, represents over 95% of covered bonds outstanding, valued at more than €3 trillion. Bertalot also coordinates the Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative (EEMI) and is a member of several European advisory groups and academic boards. He joined EMF-ECBC in 2006 and became Secretary General in 2014. He previously worked as a financial analyst in Italy and Australia and holds a degree in Economics, with studies in Rome, Mannheim, and at the Wharton School in the U.S.
